MPISSN has been deeply saddened by the news of the wildfires in Northern California. The loss has been significant, sending shock-waves through the travel, tourism and hospitality industries.
In solidarity with local Independent Meeting Planners (IMPs) and affected MPISSN members, and in support of partners and friends in Sonoma, Napa, Mendocino, and Lake counties, and especially Key Partner Sonoma County Tourism, we share with you two opportunities to support victims of the wildfires in this grave time of need, and ultimately, in their future efforts to rebuild lives and structures. Please feel free to forward this page and invite donations.
The $59 Challenge
Noting that colleagues in Sonoma County (where both the Hilton and Fountain Grove Inn were lost) are only 59 miles away, the Independent Meeting Planners (IMPs) challenge all industry friends to donate $59. Spearheaded by Kevin Cohee of DoAnEvent.com, he writes, “Imagine hotel employees that worked at the Hilton or Fountain Grove Inn now have not only lost their employment, their lives are turned upside down, even their spheres of influence are all impacted.”
After thoughtful research, donations are encouraged through North Bay Fire Relief, organized in part by Redwood Credit Union. A link is provided below detailing three donation methods. 100% of your tax-deductible donations will go directly to support those affected. Your $59 donation, or other alternative amounts, can make an important difference.

Rinehart Family donation drive
MPISSN member Robin Rinehart shares the following:
The devastation from the fires in Mendocino, Sonoma and Napa Counties has left dozens of my friends I grew up with and families homeless with nothing but the clothes on their back and their pets. Please help by donating logo wear such as T-shirts and hats, phone chargers, toiletries and similar useful items. Walmart Gift Cards or Visa gift cards are also great!
Donations may be sent to:
Rinehart Family Donations
7801 Auburn Wind Court
Citrus Heights, CA 95610
The Rinehart family will distribute to the fire victims, the first of which will be 10/21/17 to the Ukiah shelters. Please, new products only.
